Amateur-Astronomy in Germany

An other advantage of German Amateur-Astronomy are the Star-Partys. Most of them are in Spring and in Autum, because the Winter is too cold and in the summer are the observer in vacation.

In Spring and in Autum is every weekend somewhere a Star Party. Here are only the biggest:

The Star Partys offers a possibility to have a look through big telescopes at good conditions

The biggest Star Party is the ITV at Vogelsberg.
In 2024 it was special, because the sun was very active at this time:


At the night were Aurorae expected. This phenomen is visible when particles from the active sun collide with atmosphere.


Normaly Aurorae are only visible at the pole.

But at May the 10th there was a  big geomatnetic storm


I wasn´t good prepared. Only a normal consumer- compact camera and a fisheye was available.


The fisheye-picture could be spreaded with a software.
